Vodka Gummy Bears!

I'll cut right to the chase. I made delicious vodka gummy bears. :) Yeah i did. They aren't gone yet, I'm just waiting for a good time. like a party or something. lol But i can tell that they will be damn good.

****HOW I MADE THEM****

You'll need:
Vodka
Gummy bears
Container with a tight seal. Not plastic.

You put the gummy bears in the container and add enough vodka to just cover the top.
The amount of vodka you use affects how potent the bears will be. It will soak all of it up. Seal it up and place it in the fridge. Leave it in there for a couple days. I did for about 3-4.

The day after i looked at them and here is what they looked like...

I thought they were REALLY strong. Like take a small bite of an ear and you can taste it pretty well.
So i decided to add some more flavor. Fruit Punch to the rescue!!

Another day later. Here they are..

You can see how when i first laid them in the bowl i made sure to have them all flat on the bottom. but now they have jumped up on top of each other. lol I took one and tried it. Brian got a kick out of my reaction to it... It was like i was eating lemons. Ha Ha. Not sure why i had that reaction but boy was it strong still. But it had the fruity taste. More pleasant. :)

You can see the difference before and after..

Amazing right?!?!
I will hit you guys up once I try them out at a big event. :)
Much Love,
Nikki P

Lisa Frank Nails

One of my Favorite nail designs was one i saw in a Youtube tutorial. Lisa Frank inspired, rainbow and leopard. Now the way it is done in the video, its just stripes of colors right next to each other than a leopard stamp over it. Easy enough right? I decided to turn it up a notch. I recently found a love for using a sponge to paint on my polish. Its messy, but so gorgeous the way it turns out. PLUS it dries much faster. :)
ANYWHO...
So I went from turning this manicure into a masterpiece. Instead of only some rainbow colors, I used all of them. ROY G BIV playas! Well ok only Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. Close enough. I went through each color and sponging on each, blending them together. I tried using neons..
Pink first.
Then orange.
Yellow!
And green.
Of course blue.
Beautiful purple.
Heres what it turned out to be with the neons...
I didnt really like it, so I started over with shimmery colors.
I loved the colors way more. so i kept it and added the leopard print with just black.
Gosh it looks great. Doesnt it?
Now before the cleanup it looked like this. Looks pretty much like a 5 year old did it. lol
So some polish remover and scrubbing, it looked much better.
You see!!! You can obviously see why its my favorite. Well one of my favorites. I will gladly show you more of them later in my blogging journey.
Tune in next time for another nail masterpiece. :)

Much Love,
Nikki P

New Hair color

 UPDATE!!

I had been trying to dye my hair a lighter brown. I originally have a medium brown hue, and I've never tried lighter. So I finally did. But....because I have a very slight red tint, instead of going light brown, it turned well, more red. Sooooo I tried again much later. Just reddish again.
I told myself, "ok ok I'll just grow it out."
And so I waited.
 And waited.
Annnnd waited.
I'm here in Japan and I was noticing my roots coming in. Not On My Watch!
Hair dye to the rescue!
I decided to go back to my roots. Brown that is. So I went medium dark brown. My wonderful husband whom has never dyed any ones hair, did mine. Both of us were nervous about that...but he did great!! After I washed, and dried my hair, I came into the living room to reveal my color. BEAUTIFUL!
I love it. :)
Here are the differences...
Yeahhh...quite a difference. I still Love it! :)

P.S. I'm thinking of adding an under layer of blue or purple or like a red/pink. We'll see. Stay tuned!!

Pink Zebra Nails

This is the mani i did last night! I love it! And with only 4-5 colors. Ha Ha. I used Kleancolor's fusia I'll happily show you how to do this in 3...2...1...

1. put your base coat on all nails but your ring finger. that one will be white.

2. I then added a little sparkle to my pink.

3. White french tips are next.

4. Give all the white zebra stripes.

5. Take your base coat's color and give your ring finger a pretty little heart.

6. Line the white tips and the heart with shiny silver.

Ta-Da!

Enjoy your beautiful fierce zebra nails!
Check back for another mani. I'll try to get one up soon!
Until next time...

Twisted

I wanted to do my hair differently today. So i remembered something i saw on Pinterest. It was a way to kind of crimp your hair. So i said why not. i got to work. First i need to point out i did this while my husband was at work, so it was a surprise for him to see it when he got home. Ha Ha. Well, lets just say he didn't approve...hence the face he is giving me.
As you can see there is a big difference. I actually really liked it. It was different from my normal straight i usually have going on. It also adds volume. I guess poof would be a more appropriate word. Yeah. POOF. lol

Now how to show you how to achieve this wonderful do.

1. I parted my hair to make it more manageable.

2. I then took a small portion, (about the width of a pencil) and TWIST! Until its nice and tight. But don't let it curl up. No we need it nice and straight.

3. To help it hold, i used some strong hair spray. Just a light spritz.

4. Add the heat. Slide your straightener down the portions of the hair slowly. Or clamp and hold, and move down a bit and repeat. I did both to help.

5. Let go of the twist and just let it be for now. If you want add another spritz of hair spray. (i did)

You can see how just that one strand turned out. Crimpy right. I redid that one and then continued with my whole head. I looked like i had dreads. lol Because of all the hair spray, it was hard and felt gross. ( i hate the feeling of super hair sprayed hair.) I then tousled my hair with my fingers, loosening the twists. The hardness feeling was getting to me so i just got my brush.

After brushing through it a couple times, it came out lovely. i put some bobby pins in and Viola! Gorgeous.
I think this method for crimping is great! Yeah it took a while due to the twisting and heating, but its a hell of a lot faster than braiding your whole head and leaving it in overnight. Which is how i use to do it when i was younger. So i approve of this. :)
If you feel the interest of trying it, let me know how it goes for you. ;)

Thanks for Reading,
Nikki P

Cinco De Mayo

May 5th, more commonly known as Cinco De Mayo. The day that is remembered for the day the Mexican army beat the French at the Battle of Puebla. But lets be honest, for most of us it is just another excuse to drink and party right. Riiight?? Tonight our friends had a great party tonight and we just had to go. why not. Brian planned on taking care of me so he didnt drink. me on the other hand...welll...lol i think you can guess.

Me being so sheltered in the party world, I've never really played an official full game of Beer Pong, but tonight the opportunity presented itself. My partner and i were doing okay at first but then, THEN, we came back! I can happily say we won that round. My first official game too! it felt really good. Don't get me wrong I'm no pro, i need a lot of practice, but we still kicked butt! ha ha.
Later that night some of us were getting a bit tired of beer after beer, so shots were in order. Whatever was mixed in the shot, it was good and tasted like a jolly rancher. yum. Once that was done, we started a game of "Survivor". This is how it goes, you are on a team. you start with just a shot-like amount of beer in a cup and you bounce a ping pong ball into it. its only like  inches in front of you so no biggie, ponce  you get it in, you have to chug it and then flip it upright. once you get it, the next person goes and does the same thing. first team to finish gets to choose which person gets kicked off the other team. (usually the best one) no matter what, the same amount of cups are used the entire time. first team to loose all its players looses.
It was my first time playing this game too. and well we dominated. after that our opponent was all butt hurt so he secretly mixed a whole lot of berry flavored Ciroc into some homemade sangria and had us take "shots" of it. well it did its job of getting us drunk. haha. a little after they busted out Glee karaoke, we had to leave.
i got home and had to try out a hangover remedy in honor of my dad. its not really a proven remedy, its just something he does everytime he drinks. He drinks a glass of milk and has one or two slices of bread and butter. i added sugar to make it yummy. we'll see how it works tomorrow morning. :)
So that was my night celebrating. Enjoy today! Have Fun!
Happy Cinco De Mayo everyone!!

Who's That Girl

Hello fellow bloggers, I'm Nikki, and this is my story.  I'm from a small town in the crazy cold, Packer loving state. Yepp you guessed it, Wisconsin. I love it there. Yeah it can be a big pain in the neck but its home to me. No matter how much I get made fun of for the way I pronounce things like BAG or ABOUT. *cough, my husband, cough* Ha Ha

I am a music loving, day dreaming, adventure seeking, nail painting, crazy girl living in Okinawa, Japan. Yes you read that right, Japan. But before I tell you all about my adventures, I'll enlighten you as to HOW I got here...

I had just graduated high school and was this close to going to college in Milwaukee, but another opportunity arose: the NAVY. I thought I could learn a lot from it and maybe make it a career. A lot of my friends were surprised by my decision. This 5'3 girl...going into the NAVY?? Yeah okayy... And so in February of 2011 I went to boot camp. Ugh. What an experience. Once I was done with that I went on to A-school in Texas. Being there was awesome, i met some really cool people. And little did I know ALSO my future husband. I'll get to that later.

So there I was, on to becoming a Seabee, a "dirt sailor" as they call it. But unfortunately my little legs got hurt and I wasn't about to get surgery, so I got out. Now it wasn't just some 3 months there and I left, nah my schooling  was supposed to be only 4 months, I was there for 8. My schooling was stopped half way so I wasn't doing anything but hang out, make friends and watch them graduate and leave. Great huh. NO. I was fed up. So December I went home to Wisconsin. Out of the NAVY, back to where I started. (sigh) Around the same time my boyfriend, Brian did the unthinkable...proposed. Let me tell you a bit about him.

While I was in Texas, Brian was also in the same class to be an electrician. While going thru some tough personal stuff, he really helped me out. We talked a lot, hung out a few times. Until one day he comes stumbling (a wee bit drunk) into our quarterdeck and kissed the back of my hand. That night, he stole my heart without knowing it. We went out and we had movie dates a couple times. One night walking back, he did one of the best things a guy can do to a girl...

Let's set the mood, it's getting dark, we're walking between buildings and we're just making small talk. Suddenly he grabbed my hand and turned me around and kissed me. One of those great spontaneous kisses that catches you off guard and takes your breath away. Yeah,  he is THAT guy. And so i fell in love. He graduated in September and went home. From there he went to Japan, but the whole time he made sure we stayed in contact with each other. We weren't sure what exactly to call what we were relationship wise due to the distance, but I knew that if he wouldn't give up on me I would be with him for the rest of my life. We were apart for 6 months and about 3 months into our being separated, right around the time that most couples fall apart, he asked me to be his wife and, if I was up for it, move to Japan. I couldn't wait to be his wife, and to see his smile every day. So here I am, living in Okinawa, Japan with my best friend, the love of my life, my husband.

Thank you for dropping in, see you again.
Thanks, Nikki P
